Friday, 11 Jan 2019
The RFBAQ submission to the QFES relating to amending the QFES Act 1990 and the QFES Regulation 2011 is available to download and read from our website here.
We encourage all brigades to contribute to the legislative review.

Following the collation of submissions and suggestions a draft will be developed for discussion and consideration by Government before any amendments go before Parliament. So this is most definitely an opportunity for brigades and volunteers to participate in the first phase of an open and consultative process.
The QFES Regulation 2011 is the enabler on how the QFES collects the whole of state levy (not the Rural Fire levy many brigades receive from Council). The current regulation is a hardwired document that links increased funding to increased staffing and has no correlation to community risk or need. The RFBAQ are aware, as outlined in our submission, that a fundamental levy review is currently underway and will work with the QFES closely on their future developed draft to ensure brigades and their communities are no longer disadvantaged due to the current metro-centric regulation.
Again we encourage all brigades to get involved in this opportunity.
