An enormous thanks to the businesses and people who paid for a fire truck for a brigade without one.
This is the 7th Landcruiser the RFBAQ has gifted to brigades.
Saturday 27th March saw over 40 members of the of Oman Ama community come together to celebrate two very important new additions to their local rural fire brigade. A fire truck and a fire station.
Gary Patzwald, the local RFBAQ Rep, handed the vehicle over to the brigade 1st Officer Gordon Donovan.
Oman Ama is located east of Inglewood just near Coolmunda Dam, and look after an area of over 549 km2, comprised of mixed primary production and some areas of rural residential blocks from the Inglewood town boundary along the Cunningham Highway towards Gore.
It is not often a brigade and the Rural Fire Service is fortunate to be able to officially open a station and receive a new vehicle in the same day.
Joining the community for the celebrations was The Hon. Lawrence Springborg from Goondiwindi Regional Council assisting Supt Wayne Waltisbuhl for the official opening of the station. Anne and Eric McGlashan of the Inglewood SES were also in attendance.
The brigade have plans underway for the use of the new vehicle for some burns and FMS training and are working through the fit out of the station to enhance the pivotal hub in the community's capacity to respond to bushfires.
