Kunwarara Rural Fire Brigade now has a fire truck

Thursday, 21 Oct 2021

100% funded by donations, this RFBAQ designed and built Landcruiser light attack was handed over to the brigade 1st Officer Clint Swadling by RFBAQ President Ian Pike AFSM and RFBAQ Rockhampton Representative Robert Lang yesterday.

This is the 8th Landcruiser light attack that the RFBAQ has built and delivered to a brigade without a fire truck in the last 12 months.

We would like to thank all the people and businesses who donated towards this much needed fire truck.

At the handover yesterday at the RFSQ Rockhampton Area Office, Minister Mark Ryan MP spoke fulsomely about brigades, brigade members and how the Rural Fire Service has a connection with the local community and that this allowed the brigades to reflect the local community needs.

Alongside a great turn out from the Kunwarara RFB for the handover there was also Mayor Andy Ireland from Livingstone Shire Council who donated towards the fire truck and Barry O'Rourke MP, Member for Rockhampton, Stephen Andrew MP Member for Mirani, John Bolger RFSQ Assistant Commissioner and RFBAQ General Manager, Justin Choveaux.

Following on from the truck handover there was a presentation of power washer to Great Keppel Island RFB by Inner Wheel members and Robert Lang.

The Inner Wheel ladies in Rockhampton are relentless fundraisers for great causes and were very proud to have been able to provide a power washer to keep the sand and the salt off the brigade fire truck on Great Keppel Island.

Robert Lang then presented a RFBAQ Brigade Specific Donation cheque for $6,438.00 to Hidden Valley RFB.

Minister Mark Ryan then handed over a $46,000 solar powered radio repeater trailer that was donated by Energex and Ergon to the Rural Fire Service Queensland.

The RFBAQ would like to thank Kunwarara RFB and Ogmore RFB for coming in alongside the RFSQ Staff, SES Staff, MP’s, Mayor Ireland, AgForce CQ for helping to make the day special for all the grant recipients and a big thanks to the organisers of the steak for the BBQ and BBQ cook Trevor Caunt from Keppel Sands RFB.
