Successful General Grants
Toogoolawah RFB, in the West Moreton RFSQ Area is an iZone brigade with 29 members. The brigade has just completed a new shed from their own saved funds, and we are happy to contribute $9,990 towards the electrical works required. The local Area Director notes that the brigade is very active with motivated members, protecting an area of 421 km2 as well as assisting neighbouring brigades.
Hazeldean RFB, in the Caboolture RFSQ Area is a Rural brigade with 24 members. Commended by their local AD for their work during last year's Jimna fires 'which went for many days during extreme fire conditions', the brigade is seeking to expand on their training facilities. We are pleased to provide funding of $10,000 towards a concreted area with the dual purpose of training and vehicle wash-down. The brigade protects 120.85 km2, including the Kilcoy local community area.
Irvinebank RFB, in the Innisfail RFSQ Area is a Village brigade with 41 members. To assist with maintainance of fire breaks and in and around their fire shed / block we have approved the supply of a chainsaw, whipper snipper and vacuum (valued at $1,434.90). The brigade was lucky enough to recieve a Buy Local Grant last year for security cameras for their shed, so we know it will all be safe and sound. Their local AD believes they 'are an integral part of the local community's fabric' and we can't argue with that. The brigade protects an area of 306.41 km2.
