Today the Management Committee met and approved a number of RFBAQ grants, including standard and hardship grants.

East Nanango Rural Fire Brigade in the Burnett RFSQ Area was successful in their grant application for $7,057.60. The brigade sought funding towards the upgrade of the kitchen in their fire station. The Burnett RFSQ Area Director noted that the growing brigade “is very active within the Nanango Community assisting local residents with Hazard Reduction Burns and attending events for fire safety”. Servicing a 54.46sqKm area to the east of the township of Nanango, the brigade has been successful in obtaining a number of past RFBAQ grants. In 2019 the brigade received funding for office chairs and tables as well as funding towards a training room extension, and in 2020 funding for security cameras.

Wallaville Rural Fire Brigade in the Bundaberg RFSQ Area was successful in their grant application for $1,996.00. The brigade is seeking replacement chainsaws for each of their two medium attack appliances. They will be purchasing electric models as “they are easier to start” and “they are less maintenance and more reliable”. The Bundaberg RFSQ Acting Area Director described the brigade as being “very pro-active within the community with mitigation activities…and bushfire events within their own area and beyond”. Located south-east of Gin Gin, and servicing an area of 149.5 sqKm, the brigade has successfully applied for a number of RFBAQ grants. In 2006 for VHF radios, in 2008 for a reversing camera, computer and kestrel meter, also in 2008 for funding towards their fire station, in 2012 for an awing and concrete floor for their station, and in 2019 for a shed extension.

Two hardship grants totalling $7,500.00 were also approved for brigades in the Bundaberg RFSQ Area.
