$10,000 Storage Shed $6,000 Security Fence $3,000 Kitchen Appliances
The RFBAQ Management Committee met today and approved 3 grants for 3 brigades.
Winfield RFB is in the Bundaberg Regional Council area and has 16 active firefighters and 3 support members. Winfield RFB is an active I-Zone brigade covering 166 sq klm in the north east corner of the Bundaberg RFSQ Area with Baffle Creek as its boundary. The brigade has light and medium attack fire trucks and a support vehicle. The purpose of the $10,000 RFBAQ grant is for a secondary storage shed to house the support vehicle and ancillary equipment.
Coominya RFB in the Somerset Regional Council Area and has 12 active firefighers and 4 support members. Coominya RFB covers 165 sq klm in the West Moreton RFSQ Area and is located 40 klm north west of Ipswich. The brigade has light and medium attack fire trucks, the Esk Group tanker and on occasion the Esk 91 command vehicle. The purpose of the $6,276 RFBAQ grant is for the construction of a wire security fence around the fire shed.
Eurimbula RFB is in the Gladstone Regional Council area and has 11 firefighters and 5 support members. Eurimbula RFB is an I-Zone brigade and covers 425 sq klm. The brigade has been operating for 7 months as this brigade was formerly known as Captain Creek RFB. The purpose of the $2,906 RFBAQ grant is to purchase a microwave oven, refrigerator and dishwasher.
Letters will soon be sent to each brigade advising them of the next step.
Each of the above grants were sourcing their goods and services from local suppliers and this will see another $19,000 spent with Queensland businesses.
