Fire Mapping devices available to Rural Fire Brigades
Wednesday, 8 Jan 2020
Are you a truck brigade that receives no Rural Fire Levy or a Rural Fire Levy of less than $7,000 a year?
If you answered yes, then you are eligible to apply for a free Microsoft Surface Go Tablet, relevant software, and annual data charges paid for by the RFSQ.
If you are a brigade that does not meet the requirement, RFSQ is working on a process where brigades will be able to purchase tablets with RFSQ providing the data connection. The detail of this process will be communicated as soon as things are finalised.
There may be an opportunity to distribute more free tablets, which may change the bench mark of $7000.
Currently the RFBAQ and RFSQ has raised ~$250,000 to purchase 250 tablets. A very generous offer of $200,000 this morning from Kylie Jenner to the RFBAQ will considerably boost the number of tablets available. Targeted fundraising by McDonald's Restaurants in Queensland and by Drakes Supermarkets in their Queensland stores will see the number of free tablets steadily grow towards 500 available for yellow trucks.
These grants are the result of funding from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Rural Fire Brigades Association Queensland and multiple external stakeholders.
