Crew Protection Sprays now available for Rural Fire medium attacks
Brigades are now able to retrofit crew protection sprays onto their Isuzu medium attack fire appliances at State expense.
All future build medium attacks will be built with crew protection sprays.
Ilkley and Districts RFB on the Sunshine Coast was the first brigade to have these sprays retro fitted to a single cab and a dual cab vehicle.
The brigade submitted an application, modification plan and quote to QFES a few years ago requesting permission to fit the sprays at brigade expense. Initially QFES refused the application.
Following on from the launch of the RFBAQ Innovation Platform which featured a crew protection system, Ilkley and Districts RFB and the RFBAQ resubmitted the application in May 2021 which was then supported by the QFES.
To see how the crew spray system works on single and dual cab Isuzu’s and how the rollout will be conducted, please watch the youtube video:
The soon to be released RFBAQ ‘FusionCruiser will have a refined CAFS crew protection system which will hopefully be light enough to be feasible on most Light Attack vehicles -
Well done to Ilkley and Districts RFB for having the drive to improve safety for your brigade members and the commitment to pursuing your goal and thankyou to RFSQ for now making it happen.
