Nellie has been a brigade member since 1985 and was a member and firefighter in Selheim, S Bend, Rollingstone and Charters Towers Rural Fire Brigades.

Nellie and her husband Charlie were also Auxiliary Firefighters at Charters Towers Station.

Nellie is probably best remembered for her selfless devotion to the role of a Peer Support Officer, including numerous deployments to major incidents throughout the state to provide support to our people.

As a former Senior Vice President of the RFBAQ, Nellie was always in the lead when it came to providing a better and safer environment for brigade members across Queensland.

Charlie, Nellie’s husband has invited QFES and brigades to attend the funeral. The details are:

Date:                    Tuesday the 9th April

Time:                     10:00 am

Location:              Uniting Church, corner of Church and Gill Streets, Charters Towers

After the service the cortege will then proceed to the Lynd Highway Cemetery.

The RFBAQ would like to thank Nellie for her 40 years of devotion to community safety and to extend our condolences to Charlie and Nellie’s family.
