2024 QBANK Everyday Heroes Awards - Nominations Open Now!

The unwavering spirit and dedication of Queensland’s frontline workers and volunteers will be recognised for a 10th year with nominations for the 2024 QBANK Everyday Heroes Awards now open.
 
For the last 10 years, we have put more than 54 frontline workers, dedicated volunteers and young people in the spotlight for going above and beyond the call of duty to support and uplift their communities.
 
You can recognise and celebrate your family, friends and colleagues who go above and beyond within their roles, either behind the scenes or on the frontline by submitting a nomination in any of these award categories:
 
When thinking about who to nominate, consider whether someone has exemplified professional commitment, community dedication, outstanding performance, innovation, ownership, or teamwork.
 
All finalists will receive an invitation to attend the awards lunch at the W Hotel Brisbane on Friday 11 October 2024, with winners receiving $2000 deposited to their QBANK account, plus a $2,000 donation per category will be made to a charity of their choice.

Remember, there’s no word limit and we read every nomination.
 
Winners will be selected by a panel of highly respected judges in September.
 

Among the 2023 finalists were two long-standing members of the Rural Fire Service:

Maxwell Pearce - As the first officer at North Dallarnil rural fire brigade, he has served the community for 42 years. From long haul operations containing fires for seven days straight to helping those impacted by floods. In his spare time, Max works with local school children and each year, he facilitates and encourages students to write an essay for a competition where Max then reads each essay and awards prizes to the students.

 

 

David Lyons - As First Officer of the Gilston/ Advancetown Rural Fire Brigade, he has led the brigade through many major emergencies, including the 2019/2020 fires and 2022 floods and served on the ground as well as with his team. David has spent countless hours to make this brigade what it is today alongside his team, which has grown from 10 active members in 2019 to over 25 active members in 2022.
